February 2012: Site news: Works progressing at Pinhoe Church have made an exciting discovery: a 16th Century fireplace buried unknown in the wall and extending 1.5m deep and 4.5m wide. We are currently investigating the possibility of opening it up into the room using a careful conservationist approach. Our loft conversion in Pinhoe draws to a close this week and despite the weather drawing in is filled with light and space. The PV cells will be fitted shortly whilst another client in Ottery St Mary has now been using 'own-grown' electricity for a couple of weeks, generating more than being used thanks to the brilliantly clear weather recently.
January 2012: Site news: Pinhoe Church works move closer to commencement having let the contract and the PCC started on clearing site ready for Corbel Conservation to move in on the 23rd. Two other projects are being prepared for commencement, a modern single-storey open-plan extension in Paignton and a two-storey brick extension to a 1980's house in Exeter which, using some sizable structural interventions, includes a large and light-filled open-plan living environment.
December 2011: Site news: The loft conversion in Pinhoe has benefited from drier-than-forecast conditions and is all weathertight moving towards the Christmas break. Our kitchen extension in Alphington is drawing to completion, on time and budget. New work commissioned this month includes a project to look at a Listed farmhouse in East Devon with a view to careful small scale interventions to provide more family-friendly layouts, as well as larger plans to convert some outbuildings into studios or holiday accommodation.
November 2011: End-of-year: This year we are pleased to be able to support the following local and national causes with donations towards their work: Pinhoe Parish Church, where we are also completing repair works; Crisis at Christmas working with homeless people in London; and Crash supporting projects across the country.
November 2011: Site news: A new loft conversion in Pinhoe starts on site this month. Our kitchen extension in Alphington passes its half-way stage and is weathered in, with floors going down and the kitchen due to arrive in the next three weeks, ready for completion before Christmas. Pinhoe Primary School continues to build and inhabit more of the small play and learning facilities around its external landscaping. The timber framed house in Ottery St Mary has had its solar thermal panels integrated into the roof. Conservation work on Pinhoe Church has been out to tender and we look forward to starting in the New Year. In other news, the government's announcement this week on changes to the FIT has stalled a couple of our PV installations, but we hope that they will be installed despite the reduction in tariff, to contribute to the homes' on-site energy production.
September 2011: Site news: we now have our new-build SIPS frame home in full swing on site, a home extension about to start building, and a large loft conversion also proceeding through tender and due to start in earnest next month.
September 2011: More new appointments include an eco-refurbishment and extension to a Listed thatched cottage near Axminster, with very interesting possibilities. We continue to work closely with the Conservation Officer and Exeter Diocese's advisers to attain sustainable proposals for the repairs to the damp-damaged Pinhoe Church.
August 2011: Having completed training in the latest refurbishment techniques and sustainable technologies to build on our experience of green specification and design, we are now listed by The Green Register as an accredited Eco-Refurbisher, and are working towards full membership of their register.
July 2011: Currently we are drawing up plans to deal with damp and rot in our local Grade II* Listed local Church, using materials and conservation methods that work with the original fabric of the building. We are providing planning consultancy services to a nursery in Birmingham and detailing a large, modern, timber framed extension to a house in Paignton. One of our current garden extensions is about to go on site and we look forward to starting in earnest on plans for a new house in Ottery St Mary.
May 2011: Our new SIPS frame house commenced on site in Ottery St Mary this month. Contracts for redeveloped school grounds are underway in Pinhoe. We have completed works to facilitate in-home care for a family very local to us here in Pinhoe. One of our latest home extensions has pleased the owners so much with the natural light levels it is forming the backdrop for new products photographed for their own website at toysandinteriors.
December 2010: Seasonal hats off to two of our recently discovered favourite food suppliers: Red Peach Patisserie and Bread of Devon, both available at local food markets. Christmas drinks at our first fully completed contract, blanketed in snow and beautifully light and warm inside, perched on the edge of Dartmoor.
December 2010: We continue to achieve Planning Permissions and Building Control Consents for a number of domestic projects for Clients around Devon, and look forward to taking these to site in the New Year.
November 2010: End-of-year review: As we come to the end of our first financial year we are able to support local Pinhoe Parish Church's fundraising with a small donation towards their Christmas activities.
