services provided: lead consultant under design & build contract
completion September 2010, for previous employer
Replacement College of mixed FE and HE accommodation, mainly new-build over five major buildings with one smaller new-build and three refurbishment elements. The existing site has been purchased by Truro College to expand their provision over a larger geographical base, in doing so increasing the capacity of the site to twice the original. The new buildings utilise prefabrication technologies to minimise construction time, and aim to achieve Excellent or Very Good BREEAM ratings. Elements of the site are within the curtilage of a Listed Building. The scheme includes renewable energy provision, including an on-site wind turbine and ground source heat pumps.
Lead consultant services were provided from Stage C (outline design), commencing with value-engineering and tender negotiation, followed by site architect and detail design works.
