Topsham Primary School: food technology room
Services provided: full architectural service to tender stage
Completion: October 2010
Topsham’s multi-functional Specialist Room required rationalisation to ensure that the food technology area was suitable for small group teaching, as it was arranged poorly and was too small to allow groups to adequately learn together in the original facilities. We re-designed the layout to accommodate the appropriate group size, allow multi-height facilities to cater for a wider age-range, and extend the facilities by expanding into less-well used parts of the room.
We investigated a range of options for the new food technology installation and also to provide more efficient, flexible and useful science storage; by providing more appropriate fittings the installation for the whole room became more flexible and now supports better learning opportunities.
The project was completed within a very tight budget as well as being carefully programmed around term-time occupation and expenditure profiles within the school’s year.
