December 2014: Seasonal news: We are shutting slightly early for Christmas as Sean is due to be in hospital briefly on 20th, so the office will be closed from 22nd Dec to 2nd Jan incl. We wish you all the very best for the season and look forward to continuing working with you all in the New Year.
November 2014: End of year: Another busy year and we’re pleased to be entering our sixth year of trading with a string of new and varied commissions. The number of new enquiries and the activity amongst our regular builders gives us cause to believe our growth over the past couple of years can continue in what appears to be a recovering sector. Fingers crossed for the next five years. In the meantime we are pleased to again support Interface Uganda, as well as Christian Aid and Claire House with our end-of-year giving. Do visit their websites and consider supporting their fantastic work.
November 2014: Project news: It’s been a busy summer: Several projects have finished on site over the summer, including Strode College, a first floor bedroom extension in Topsham, a two-storey side and rear extension in Budleigh Salterton, and outbuildings for repeat clients also in Topsham. Conversion of flats into one dwelling in St Leonards starts on site this month, as has another two-storey extension in Pinhoe and conservation work in Dorset. We are about to tender several other works including Listed Building alterations, and roof maintenance at Pinhoe Church continues. Several other new commissions coming in, too. Other news: Excellent running at the Great West Run last month, marginally faster than a couple of clients, too (but close!). Aiming to build on the marathon experience for new challenges on foot and bike next year.
August 2014: Project news: New enquiries through the summer, for household work as well as community projects. We’ve also sent out several projects to tender, including internal modifications to a Listed Building, loft conversions, and flat refurbishments, so we could be on site a lot in the autumn! Other news: A few days off at the end of August so please bear with us through our mini-holiday in north Devon. Jackie’s summer events raised over £6,000 for Interface Uganda; brilliant all round.
July 2014: Project news: Projects small and large are progressing well on site, with two of four drawing to a close shortly. Also working for several churches at the moment: from an ‘outside loo’ in Clyst Honiton, maintenance and repair items working through a five-year plan at Pinhoe, to inventive modern interventions atUnlimited Church in Exeter.
June 2014: Project news: Four projects now on site concurrently, a busy summer period but a good time of year for it (mostly). Also new commissions from our smallest yet to possibly our largest – more to follow! Other news: Walking on Dartmoor for Interface Uganda tomorrow, amongst predicted thunderstorms – could be interesting, certainly fresh, definitely worth a pint at the end.
May 2014: Project news: New commissions include further domestic work and our smallest project to date, plus a small redevelopment of a shop into flats in Tiverton. Also commencing on site we have a substantial two-storey extension to a home in Budleigh Salterton. Other news: A PB for Sean in the beautiful North Dorset Village Marathon, despite warm conditions.
Apr 2014: Project news: The third phase of work at a substantial property in Topsham is now on site, re-building retaining structures and providing new outbuildings, requiring careful Highways management. We have also just awarded a contract for another small project in Topsham, due to start late May. Strode College proceeds apace with the roof on and floors being cast this week. Other news: We are joining friends and clients on a Dartmoor walking weekend to raise funds for Interface Uganda; Jackie is also cycling 190 miles from Exeter to Buckingham Palace in May.
Mar 2014: Project news: More new commissions on domestic work as well as now working with Force Cancer Charity to improve the facilities at their store in Heavitree.
Feb 2014: Project news: The new year has been very upbeat! The media carries news of bouyancy albeit that we expect the south-west to lag a little behind. Nevertheless lots of new enquiries have lead to new commissions on a range of projects including for extensions to Listed Buildings, changing two dwellings into one, a loft conversion and some concept drawings to promote property sales. Meanwhile Strode College proceeds on site, a small project to remove a chimney throughout a home in Butterleigh has commenced, and we are about to take at least two more to tender. We are also preparing to talk in the spring to the CIOB, about working on historic buildings.
