End of Year 2016-17

We’ve had another busy year full of exciting projects including building on previous ‘firsts’ for the office. Following on from the completion last year of a new loo for Clyst Honiton Church, we are currently building one in Honiton Baptist Church, have design similar for Pinhoe Church Office, and are discussing initial briefs for re-ordering Rockbeare Church to include flexible community spaces, a kitchen and… another loo.  It seems we are getting a reputation for Church washrooms! Most recently, home extension projects have completed well and we roll into the next year with no less than five projects in the construction stages, so spring 2018 will bring even more improved homes to happy families. We have also been working on commercial surveying and on multi-use fire-proofing work, and continue being involved with a number of Listed Building and Heritage projects.

Looking towards the new year, the pace has picked up at Park Life where we are designing our first community hub comprising a cafe in Heavitree Park, with additional hall and other uses, and which will act as a focus for the community growing around the park. Planning Permission to be submitted in the new year. Hot on the heels of that we are developing a brief with Friends of Pinhoe Library to replace it on a new site with a cafe and a range of spaces for local business, sports and community group use, this also being billed as a ‘Hub’ for the village as it expands with major housing development all around.

As we close our accounts for the financial year-end we are pleased to continue with our Planet|People|Percent|Pledge and donate a minimum of 1% of our total turnover to charities that are close to our hearts. This year we have once again supported Crisis, helping them feed and cloth homeless people at Christmas, reviewing their healthcare, and providing invaluable training and support throughout the year. We have also supported St Peters Malawi Education Trust with donations towards fundraising events as well as supporting them with time and resources for events and fundraising. In September we ran Devon’s Coast to Coast to raise over £3,500 towards their ‘Education is the Key 2018‘ campaign, for which in March we will be joining them on a trip to help build ‘seven classrooms in seven days’.
