Success in Chimbiya

We have just returned from our trip to Malawi with St Peters Malawi Education Trust; we’ve had an eye-opening time. The building team spent 5 hard, hot days in the sun and successfully completed the construction of seven classrooms ahead of time. The frames went up well and were completed with roofs in the nick of time, as the heavens opened the moment we officially handed over the project. All 900 pupils, families and building team were able to shelter under the new roof. The locals will now complete the rooms forming out of local mud blocks a range of high and low walls to enclose the additional classrooms. This will vastly improve the access to education that this remote community has. Inroads into other projects were also made, including a new borehole, rainwater harvesting, solar powered lighting and other key infrastructure. Quietly now, there’s talk of a new secondary school… We are so pleased to have got to grips with the work of this charity ‘in the field’. The work does not stop here…
